“The intent of this video is to point out that each and every one of us is human first, man or woman second. We believe everyone has the right to feel free to be whoever they want to be, do whatever job they like, play whatever role they so desire. We want to raise awareness of gender inequality towards women as well as men in our society and for it to be recognized as a serious issue that can and must be averted. With this video we want to promote gender equality as one of the basic themes of cooperation development, understanding and respect towards one another. We want to encourage everyone to look past gender sterotypes in every day life, as we communicate with those around us, thus making the world a better place. In the context of this subject, the focus is often on women’s rights. It is not exactly fair against men who don’t do “men’s jobs” and are therefore judged or even disdained. We wish to see society eventually step away from terms such as “a real man”, “women’s chores”, “a man’s job” etc. Ignorance is bliss and it is the lack of information that is often the biggest obstacle in way of preventing discrimination. Be reminded that there is no complete gender equality in any country, European or otherwise. In Latvia the gender equality index is below average within EU, which makes gender equality quite the timely”
